Fedora Core

I found the setup for video editing on Fedora Core 6 quite easy using the Kyum package manager to install Kino, Cinelerra, Video Lan Client and plus many audio applications. The one thing to watch out for is the automatic update can cause a compatability issue if you install from the wrong "repository"" and Fedora works great!. You see, unlike Windows, the Linux "automatic update" is not only an update but also a searchable database of free software from literally thousands of "open source" vendor groups; see sourceforge.net. These vendor groups make their sotware packages available to you through different "repositories" and the "package manager", Kyum, lets you query the repos'. So when you go to install Kino and Cinelerra on Fedora Core just avoid installing from the "Livna" repository and you will not have any problems.
