Analog Camcorders
From MITVWiki
Analog camcorders come in a variety of formats, the more popular being VHS, VHS-C 8mm, and Hi8. Analog camcorders are obsolete in terms of video quality and ease of use. You may also have increasing difficulty in finding tapes to record or obtaining replacement batteries and parts. If possible, it is recommended to shoot on a digital camcorder. The only reason to use an analog camcorder is if you already have one.
It is more difficult, but not impossible, to use an Analog camcorder for video blogging or Internet TV. With the right adapters you can transfer video to your computer and begin the editing process.
Pro:
- You have an Analog camcorder that you have hardly used and are just getting started.
- If you are computer savvy it is fairly easy to set up your equipment. If you are computer phobic then it will be more a challenge.
Con:
- The video quality is less than a Digital camcorder.
- If you do not have a camcorder it will be less expensive for you to purchase a digital camcorder or a digital camera with a video function than for you to purchase the equipment necessary for you to adapt your analog camcorder to your computer.
